Bhubaneswar: Three Express trains will soon originate from Bhubaneswar New railway station in Odisha, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) informed on Friday.
These trains are Bhubaneswar-Mumbai Konark Express, Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad Visakha Express and Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam Intercity Express. “The date of implementation for these changes will be announced shortly,” it said.
The ECoR further stated that introduction of these originating trains from Bhubaneswar will benefit passengers from the northern parts of Bhubaneswar and adjacent areas. These trains will also provide stoppage at Mancheswar Railway Station for two minutes each, it added.
“Bhubaneswar New Station, which is being redeveloped under the Amrit Station Scheme, is poised to become a crucial hub catering to the travel needs of students, travellers, residents of North Bhubaneswar and adjacent areas. The move will significantly enhance rail connectivity and ease travel experience for many passengers,” it said.
The major works being planned at the station include:
• Expansion and improvement of circulating area.
• Provision of additional Foot Over Bridge (FOB).
• Modern waiting rooms and toilets for enhanced passenger comfort
• Improvement of existing Platforms and its illumination.
• Installation of Coach Watering Facilities.
• Provision of Lifts in all the Platforms.
• Upgradation of existing Station Building.
