Bhubaneswar: The three-member technical committee formed by the Odisha government to probe the mishap at a bridge construction site in Cuttack has been asked to submit its report within 15 days.
Three persons were killed and two others critically injured in the mishap that took place on Saturday during the construction of a bridge for the six-laning of the Cuttack Ring Road near Khannagar.
As per an official notification, the committee formed under the guidance of Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, will investigate the cause and circumstances that led to the incident and recommend appropriate actions, if negligence is found.
Headed by the Engineer-in-Chief-cum-Special Secretary of the Works Department, the committee also includes the Chief Engineer (Roads-II) and the Additional District Magistrate (General), Cuttack.
The panel has been asked to conduct a comprehensive inquiry to determine whether the incident resulted from human error or other lapses. Minister Harichandan has said that strict action will be taken if any party is found responsible.
