Bhubaneswar: Three MPs from Odisha – Bhartruhari Mahtab, Aparajita Sarang and Sasmit Patra – are part of the Parliamentary Delegation for 150th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), being held in Tashkent from April 5 to 9.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will lead the 12-member delegation and address the Assembly during the high-level segment of general debate on the theme “Parliamentary Action for Social Development and Justice”, a PIB release said.
Other members of the delegation are Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh and MPs Anurag Singh Thakur, Vishnu Dayal Ram, Ashok Kumar Mittal, Kiran Choudhry, Lata Wankhede, Bijuli Kalita Medhi and Secretary-General, Lok Sabha, Utpal Kumar Singh, and Secretary-General, Rajya Sabha, P C Mody.
They will also participate in the meetings of various IPU bodies, including the Governing Council, Executive Committee, Standing Committees, and various thematic panel discussions which will be held during the Assembly.
On the sidelines of the Assembly, Birla will share his perspectives on issues of common interest with his counterparts from other Parliaments. He will also interact with members of Indian Community and Indian students in Uzbekistan, the release added.
