Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Radio Namaskar, the first community radio of Odisha established in Konark, won three National Awards in different categories at the 7th Community Radio Sammelan in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar gave away the awards.
Radio Namaskar bagged the first prize in thematic category for its programme ‘Ama Khadya’ and community engagement category for its programme ‘Ama Priya Pakhala’.
The community radio also won the third prize in the creative category for its programme ‘Sishu Hasile Duniya Hasiba’.
It is a civil society formed by some national youth awardees, Indira Gandhi NSS awardees and ex-NSS volunteers and committed to the cause of social transformation and development.
It focuses on community development by conducting programmes for farmers, women and young mass.
Radio Namaskar has previously been awarded Manthan South Asia Award 2011 and mBillionth South Asia Award for its effective broadcasting through integration of mobile technology with radio.
