3 Senior Odisha Govt Officials Arrested After Seizure Of Unaccounted Cash
Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths on Sunday arrested three senior government officials from whom Rs 22,61,430 unaccounted cash was seized the previous day.
Notably, Rs 89,000 was recovered from regional officer of the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB), Balasore, Narottam Behera while he was on the way to Bhubaneswar in his vehicle. Following this, the anti-corruption officials raided his house on Sunday and recovered cash worth Rs 9.25 lakh.
The Vigilance officials in Bhubaneswar also recovered Rs 1.75 lakh while searching the vehicle of regional officer of OSPCB, Rourkela, PK Mohapatra after he arrived in the capital city from Rourkela on Saturday evening.
Apart from these two OSPCB officials, Rs 10.07 lakh was found in the vehicle of Bidhan Chandra Sahu, Superintendent Engineer of Baitarini Irrigation Division in Keonjhar district while he was on his way to his residence in Cuttack. Following the recovery of cash, the Vigilance officials had raided the residence of Sahu late in the evening and recovered cash of Rs 64,000.
