Additional district urban public health officer (ADU-PHO) Antaryami Mishra said Niladri Vihar reported 40 dengue cases in the city.

Most dengue cases have been reported from Sailashree Vihar, Niladri Vihar, Chandrasekarpur, Unit VIII and Kalpana Square areas.

About the dengue related death of a child in the city, Mishra said it is not confirmed yet.

The BMC Commissioner too has denied having any information about the development regarding the death. Singh said a massive drive is underway to create awareness among people about the disease. Measures are being undertaken to destroy mosquito breeding sites in the affected localities.

Zonal Deputy Commissioner, Purandar Nanda said a team has been sent to the victim’s house. Investigation is on if the minor girl had undergone the required ELISA test and which hospital she had visited for the tests, he added.

The minor has reportedly died in a private hospital and the government or BMC is yet to receive a report regarding it, the officials said.

Meanwhile, the Health and Family Welfare Department earlier asked people to visit Government-run hospitals like Capital Hospital, AIIMS, RMRC and Khurda District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for free testing.
