300 Odia Labourers Stranded In Bahrain Seek Repatriation
Bahrain: Hundreds of migrant workers from Odisha, who are stranded in Bahrain, urged the state government to help them return home. The labourers have complained of hazardous working conditions abroad without adequate food and water.
Pritam Nanda, a labourer hailing from Subudhipatana, has released a video clip seeking government’s intervention to repatriate the stranded persons.
Around 300 labourers from Balugaon, Khallikote and Banapur have been trapped in Bahrain. Workers found complaining about wages or working conditions are being tormented severely, it is alleged.
The job contractor had promised the labourers that their work schedule is eight hours in Behrain but in reality they are being forced to slog for over 14 hours on a meagre remuneration.
