Bhopal: About 3,000 doctors resigned from their posts after the Madhya Pradesh High Court termed their four-day-old strike as illegal.

The junior doctors, who were working in six government medical colleges of MP, quit en masse on Thursday and submitted their resignation to deans of their respective colleges, PTI reported quotibg Madhya Pradesh Junior Doctors Association (MPJDA).

The high court had directed the striking doctors to resume duty within 24 hours, but the defiant doctors went ahead and resigned, saying that they will challenge the ruling.

The junior doctors have placed several demands before the state government, including hike in stipend and free treatment for them and their families in case they contract the deadly coronavirus infection.

Meena informed that the state government has already cancelled their enrollment for third year PG and thus they won’t be able to sit for exams. He added that MPJDA will appeal against the HC judgement in Supreme Court.

He claimed that members of Medical Officers Association and Federation of Resident Doctors Association will soon join the agitation of junior doctors.
