Bhubaneswar: Financial assistance under the Odisha government’s flagship Subhadra Scheme will be credited to over 4.57 lakh women by January 18, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced on Tuesday.

Total assistance money amounting to Rs 250 crore will be transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries of the scheme in this phase of disbursement.

While 4,57,681 women will receive Subhadra funds in the upcoming disbursement, 1,78,398 of them are newly included beneficiaries who will receive the first instalment of assistance. This apart, 2,55,265 women who were earlier excluded from the first and second instalments have now been brought under the scheme and will receive both instalments together.

The inclusion process has also covered beneficiaries whose grievances were examined and resolved. As part of the grievance redressal mechanism, 24,018 women have been added to the Subhadra Yojana beneficiary list.

“Altogether 4,57,681 beneficiaries will receive the amount. They include 1,78,398 newly-enrolled beneficiaries, who attained the age of 21 years, another 24,018, who were previously excluded due to application errors or verification issues, and 2,55,265 who had received only the third installment due to technical issues under this fund-transfer scheme,” Parida, who also holds the Women and Child Development portfolio, told reporters.

With all categories of beneficiaries taken together, the State government will credit Rs 250 crore directly to the bank accounts of eligible women. Officials said the disbursement is aimed at ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is left out due to procedural or verification-related delays.
