Puri: In a major success in the battle against drug smuggling, Puri police seized around 151 grams of brown sugar during ‘Operation Chakra’ and arrested four persons allegedly involved in the racket.
Puri Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh told reporters on Sunday that the seizure was made during a special operation as part of the ongoing ‘Operation Chakra’ against illegal activities involving narcotic substances.
The seized brown sugar weighed around 151 grams and its valus is estimated value is over Rs 15 lakh. The police have arrested four people in this incident and cash to the tune of Rs 6.3 lakh has been seized from them.
Based on an information about the brown sugar transaction, a team of Puri police launched a special operation and conducted raid at a site. During the raid, 151 grams of brown sugar worth about Rs 15 lakh was seized from the accused.
Police also seized seven mobile phones, a four-wheeler, a bullet, two bikes from the arrested persons.
