Bhubaneswar: As many as 1,124 posts of officers from various administrative services are lying vacant in Odisha at present, the state Assembly was informed on Monday.
This information was shared by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi while answering a question by Lanjigarh MLA Pradip Kumar Dishari in the House.
There are altogether 4,741 sanctioned posts in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Forest Service (IFS), Odisha Administrative Service (OAS), Odisha Police Service (OPS), and Odisha Finance Service (OFS) for the state, he said.
As against the sanctioned posts, 248 IAS, 195 IPS, 141 IFS, 2,248 OAS, 851 OPS, and 1,058 OFS positions are currently filled.
The remaining 1,124 posts, including 42 IAS, 67 IPS, 66 IFS, 330 OAS, 146 OPS, and 473 OFS posts, remain vacant.
The Chief Minister clarified that positions in the IAS, IPS, and IFS are filled by the Central government. For the vacant posts in the OAS, OPS, and OFS, the state government takes the necessary measures to ensure timely recruitment.
As many as 27 IAS officers, 28 IPS officers, and seven IFS officers are presently on central deputation, the CM added.
