Pipili: At least five people were injured after a speeding car they were travelling in rammed into a divider and skidded off the road on the Bhubaneswar-Puri National Highway.
The mishap took place at Mangala Sidi near Pipili on Thursday night. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was badly mangled, leaving its occupants trapped and critically injured.
All 5 people, including the driver, were rushed to a hospital at Mangalpur before one of them was shifted to Capital hospital in Bhubaneswar due to being critical.
Sources say the car was travelling at a high speed which lost control possibly due to fog which reduced visibility. The passengers are reported to be transgenders, who were returning after performing in a program.
Police have seized the vehicle and launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on whether over-speeding or driver negligence led to the crash.
