5 Policemen Attacked By Murder Attempt Accused With Sharp Weapon In Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: A murder attempt accused allegedly attacked five members of a police team with a sharp weapon in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday.

The accused , identified as Padmalochan Patra (50) of Jamudihi village under the jurisdiction of Nilgiri police station in the district, attacked the police personnel when they visited the area to arrest him, sources said.

The incident took place when the police team including Sub-Inspector Biranchi Sahu, ASI Ananta Murmu, ASI Prabodh Mallik and Constables Aju Madinga and Deepak Parida went to  Jamudihi village to arrest the accused.

When the police personnel reached Patra’s house, he suddenly mounted an attack with a sharp weapon, causing injuries to some of them.

However, the accused was overpowered by the policemen and arrested.

The injured police personnel were sent to a hospital in Nilgiri for treatment and their condition was stated to be stable.

A fresh case was registered against the accused person following his attack on the police team and further investigation is in progress, police said.
