New Delhi: An overnight addition of 56,309 positive cases took India’s COVID-19 tally past 19.5 lakh to 19,64,563 on Thursday.
Also, 904 people succumbed to the virus infection in last 24 hours, taking the country’s death toll to 40,699, the Union Health Ministry informed.
The cumulative recovered cases (13,28,336) have surpassed active cases by 7,32,835.
The fatality rate of cases though dipped a bit to 2.07 per cent and was observed to be falling progressively, according to a Health Ministry release. Also, India’s recovery rate now stands at 67.62 per cent.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 2,21,49,351 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, including 6,64,949 on Wednesday. Also, ICMR has set up 1370 COVID-19 testing labs across the country.
