Angul: In a major haul, excise officials seized more than one quintal ganja and arrested six people during separate raids in Odisha’s Angul district.
According to sources, the contraband ganja was seized after excuse sleuths carried out special operations at Jarpada Munda Sahi and Handapa area on Friday morning.
Acting on a tip off, a team of excise officials busted a racket in which ganja was being smuggled on the pretxt of distribution of wedding invitation cards in Jarpada Munda Sahi. Around 60 kg ganja was seized during the operation.
In another operation, over 48 kg ganja was seized from Handapa area by the excise officials.
Altogether, over 108 kg ganja valued at around Rs 10.80 lakh was seized from the two locations and a total of six persons were arrested.
This apart, two cars were also seized from the accused who are being interrogated. Further details are awaited.
