6 More International Passengers Test COVID-Positive In Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The first Omicron-positive cases were detected in Bengaluru, with one South Africa returnee and a doctor found to have been infected by the new variant of coronavirus.

Now six more six international passengers, who have tested RT-PCR positive, are latest Omicron suspects who have been isolated in a designated hospital in the Karnataka capital, IANS reported citing Health department sources.

The six passengers, including three women, arrived at Kempe Gowda International Airport from Frankfurt, Paris and Kuwait on Wednesday.

Their samples have been sent for genome-sequencing.

Results of several samples of primary and secondary contacts of these persons are awaited.

Karnataka has 19 Omicron cases out of 213 reported in India so far.

The state government has tightened measures to curb the spread of Omicron, with revised guidelines being issued for Christmas and New Year celebrations.
