66-Year-Old Of Bhubaneswar Dies Of COVID; Odisha Toll Rises To 8437

Bhubaneswar: A 66-year-old woman of Bhubaneswar is the latest victim of COVID in Odisha.

According to the Health Department, she was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension. The death was confirmed after an audit, it added.

With this, the COVID toll in Odisha touched 8,437 on Tuesday.

The state has so far reported 6,561 COVID deaths during the second wave against 1,876 in the first wave last year.

There were 80 casualties in the state in November, 134 in October and 346 in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in the Health Department.

The second wave of the pandemic has claimed the lives of 48 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
