7 Arrested For Demolition Of Shops On ‘Encroached’ Land In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: The police have arrested seven persons for allegedly demolishing two shops constructed by encroachment in Nayapalli of Odisha capital.
According to police sources, two businessmen had constructed their shops in a portion of land belonging to another person in the area under Nayapalli police station. On the night of March 24, the 7 accused came to the spot and demolished their shops with the help of a bulldozer, the traders alleged in a complaint filed at the police station.
The traders further said a dispute was going on the plot of land regarding its ownership and its owner had hired the accused, all of whom work as bouncers in different places, to carry out the demolition. Besides, the bouncers had detained them forcibly when they opposed the demolition, the complainants said.
The police had registered a case and launched an investigation. The accused were identified as Nakula Makakud, Asish Jena, Dipak Kumar Das, Laxmikanta Das, Rajesh Ku Patra, Pradeep Ku Baliarsingh and Asish Kumar Ray.
On the basis of the complaint, the police arrested the accused. All of them have criminal antecedents, the sources said.
