Cuttack: In a bid to free Badambadi bus stand in the city of anti-social elements, police on Tuesday arrested 7 miscreants for collecting “dada bati” (extortion).
The arrested were identified as Anil Nayak (25), Sanjay Nayak (44), Debaraj Sethi (41), Jitendra Rout (38), Anup Barik (31), Kalandi Khuntia (42) and Sachidananda Rout (38).

According to police, the accused used to collect Rs 200 to Rs 400 from each bus, threatening to murder if anybody protested to pay. They were also creating disturbances and assaulting the bus staff.
Rashmiranjan Mohapatra, IIC of Badabadi police station said the exercise will continue till the bus stand is made free of such elements.
