Keonjhar: In another sickening example of superstition, a seven-year-old boy was reportedly branded with a hot iron rod to cure illness at Phuljhar village under Bansapala block in Keonjhar district on Friday.
The matter came to the fore when the victim’s family members got him admitted to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital in a critical condition.
The boy’s parents branded him with a red hot iron this morning after he complained of stomach ache. After conducting tests at the hospital, doctors found that he was suffering from malaria. After a preliminary treatment, the child is in good condition, hospital sources said.
In a similar incident in Keonjhar last month, a minor girl was subjected to similar treatment to cure her stomach ailment.
