Bhubaneswar: The 70th edition of State Police Athletics Championship got underway at Kalinga Stadium in the Odisha capital on Friday.
Inaugurating the championship, Director General, Fire Services, Bijay Kumar Sharma encouraged the participants and contingents to make the event successful. He also spoke on the achievement of the Odisha Police in bringing down the incidence of crime to a large extent in the state.

Altogether 52 contingents from different districts, battalions and organisations are participating in the championship.
Around 990 athletes, including 135 women, are taking part in the event.
