Bhubaneswar: Eight complaints of ragging were received from two government-run colleges in Odisha in the past 16 months, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj informed the Assembly on Friday.
While assuring the House that the anti-ragging cells are vigilant and taking swift action for redressal of such complaints, the Minister further stated that the Higher Education Department is also compiling data on ragging incidents reported from engineering and medical colleges across the state.
The department has periodically issued directives to all colleges and universities, strictly in line with the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, to curb the menace of ragging, he added.
