8 More Die Of COVID In Odisha; 2 From Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll touched 8,078 on Thursday as Odisha confirmed eight more deaths due to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours.

According to the Health Department, three fatalities are from Angul, two from Bhubaneswar and one each from Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Nabarangpur.

Among them, three victims had no co-morbidities.

Here are the details of cases confirmed as death due to COVID after due completion of the audit process:

1. A 57 years old Female of Angul District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.

2. A 92 years old Female of Angul District.

3. A 65 years old Male of Angul District.

4. A 83 years old Male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Coronary Artery Disease, Hypertension.

5. A 63 years old Male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.

6. A 69 years old Male of Jajpur District who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease, Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.

7. A 26 years old Male of Mayurbhanja District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension & Chronic Kidney Disease.

8. A 65 years old Female of Nabarangapur District.

Odisha has so far reported 6,194 COVID deaths in the second wave as against 1,876 the previous year.

Around 6,000 fatalities were added in the last four months. August saw around 66 deaths a day, on an average, while it was 61 in July and 42 in June.

Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered last month, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June (1,272) and May (737), Health Department sources said.

Notably, the second wave of the pandemic has claimed the lives of 39 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
