8 Wagons Of Goods Train Decoupled In Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: At least eight wagons of a goods train reportedly got detached on Titlagarh-Sambalpur rail line near Gunjitara level crossing in Odisha’s Balangir district on Wednesday.

The coal-laden goods train was on its way from Bhubaneswar to Titlagarh when the incident took place, sources said.

The engine and remaining wagons of the goods train rolled on the tracks even though eight wagons got decoupled near the level crossing under Sambalpur division of East Coast Railway (ECoR). The detached wagons moved backward for some distance before stopping.

The railway staff deployed at the level crossing informed the authorities concerned. The level crossing remained shut for around two hours due to the mishap.

By that time, the engine and remaining wagons of the goods train had already covered a distance of around one km. Necessary steps were undertaken to reconnect the detached wagons of the goods train.
