Bhubaneswar: An accident at the Kalinganagar Tata Steel Plant in Odisha’s Jajpur district left nine workers injured on Friday.
They were working at the steel melting shop of the plant when there was a sudden explosion at around 11.30 am.
The injured persons, mostly with burn injuries, were immediately taken to Tata Steel Medica Hospital for medical attention.
“One of them has already been discharged from the hospital after first aid. The medical team is currently attending to the injured and has confirmed that everyone is now out of danger,” Tata Steel stated in a press release.
“We are committed to providing them with the best possible care and all necessary efforts are being made to ensure their well-being,” it added.
Concerned authorities and family members of those injured have been intimated about the accident.
The incident site has been barricaded and Tata Steel has launched an internal investigation.
