9 Fishermen Stranded At Mahanadi River Mouth In Odisha’s Paradip Return Safely
Bhubaneswar: Around nine fishermen, whose boat was reportedly stranded near the Mahanadi River mouth at Paradip in Odisha for more than two hours on Friday, returned to the coast safely.
Sources said the fishing boat with around nine fishermen was stranded at the river mouth near Nehru Bungalow in the port town in Jagatsinghpur district.
After learning about the incident, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) had directed the department of Fishery and ARD and Coast Goard at Paradip to take immediate steps for the safe return of the stranded fishermen.
The Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Paradip was also instructed to coordinate in the matter, official sources said.
The office of the SRC later informed that all the fishermen have returned to the coast safely.
The stranded fishing boat had reportedly gone to the sea for fishing. However, it got stranded in the sea due to some technical snag. On being informed, three other boats ventured into the sea to rescue the stranded fishermen.
