Bhubaneswar: Amid the nationwide lockdown over the deadly novel coronavirus, one lakh people from Odisha are stranded in different parts of the country, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy informed on Sunday.
After a review meeting at the control room set up at the state Home Department to assist the migrant workers, he said that 1860 calls have been received from people of Odisha stuck in distant corners, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

They mostly belong to Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Ganjam and Jajpur districts of the state, he said.
The chief secretary further said that more than 15,000 people from other states are stuck in Odisha due to the lockdown and arrangement for food and accommodation have been made for them.
Earlier in the day, the Centre had asked all state governments and Union Territory administrations to effectively seal state and district borders to stop the movement of migrant workers during the countrywide lockdown against coronavirus,
Adequate arrangements for food and shelter of poor and needy people including migrant labourers should be made at the place of their work,
