Bhubaneswar: As thousands of migrant workers prepare to leave Surat, the district administration in Gujarat on Thursday said that it will only allow workers from Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan to leave the district on certain conditions.

Briefing the media, Surat district collector Dhaval Patel said that the administration will allow migrant workers from Odisha and the two other states to leave the district — by bus or any four-wheeler passenger vehicle.

He said the district administration has made arrangements at three check posts to conduct health check-up of the migrant workers. Those workers with no symptom of the virus will be allowed to proceed home.

Referring to the condition of the travel, Patel said five documents have to be produced for verification at each check gate — registration number of the bus or any four-wheeler passenger vehicle they have boarded, other details of the driver and his mobile number, the group leader and all the workers.
