Odisha Targets Production Of 96 Lakh Tonne Foodgrains This Year
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has set a target of 96 lakh tonne of foodgrain production from 62 lakh hectare of land this year, said Principal Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment, Saurabh Garg on Tuesday.
Stating that the Chief Minister has announced a special package of Rs 200 crore for the farmers who are affected by the outbreak of the COVID-19, he said the village agricultural workers (VAWs) will visit each panchayat every Monday and listen to the grievances of the farmers at the panchayat office from 12 pm to 2 pm.
“Apart from the panchayat-level meeting, a technical committee meeting will be held in each block regarding distribution of seeds and fertilizers to the farmers on the first and third Saturday of every month,” Garg said, adding that the district nodal officer will oversee the proceedings.
Stating that the state has adequate stock of seeds and fertilizers, he said the farmer can also redress their grievances by making phone call on toll-free number 18001025166.
