Bhubaneswar: Odisha will witness an annular solar eclipse or ring of fire eclipse with a 60 per cent visibility on Sunday.

Experts have warned not to watch this celestial phenomenon without protection. Normal sunglasses also cannot protect your eyes. While one option is to buy specialized glasses from stores or Amazon, a simpler method is to create a pinhole projector using just a few pieces of paper.

The Sun can be projected using a projector or projecting via binoculars or telescope, as watching directly through them can cause blindness.

How To Make A DIY Simple Card Projector

Take 2 pieces of white cardboard or paper plates. You will need a sharp pin or needle.

Make a tiny hole in the middle of one cardboard using the pin.

With your back towards the Sun, hold 1 piece of paper above you allowing the Sun to shine on the paper. The second paper will serve as the screen. Hold it at a distance and an inverted image of the eclipse will be projected through the pinhole.

The eclipse began at 10.38 am and will go till 2.09 pm here. It will be visible partially in Bhubaneswar provided clouds are not around. The maximum effect will be at 12.26 pm.

You can also watch a live stream from the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences in Nainital:
