As COVID Cases Rise, Government Offices In Odisha’s Jajpur Closed Till July 8 Midnight

Jajpur: With COVID-19 positive cases rising alarmingly in Jajpur, the district administration on Monday announced that all government offices in the district will remain closed till midnight of July 8.

The decision was taken after a senior official of the administration (a Tehsildar) tested positive for the coronavirus.

“No public, individually or in groups, shall visit the public offices throughout Jajpur district till 08.07.2020 midnight. However, public offices will function by adopting social distancing measures, use of masks and other COVID-19 guidelines,” the notification said.

“It is observed that after partial relaxation of lockdown norms, a large number of people are coming to the Collectorate and other Government offices located at District Headquarters in connection with various work and grievances which are not emergent in nature,” it added.

People may contact the heads of the offices through telephone, WhatsApp and e-mail in case of an emergency. The concerned officer will evaluate the importance of work and act accordingly.

With 40 new positive cases reported in the last 24 hours, Jajpur’s tally stands at 486. Out of that, 126 are active cases while 360 patients have recovered.

Notably, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange on Monday urged residents not to travel more than one km from their homes.
