Cuttack Rural DSP & 5 More Policemen Test Positive For COVID-19

Cuttack:  A day after inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Badamba police station in Odisha’s Cuttack district tested positive for COVID-19, a District Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Cuttack Rural and five staff of the police station were found infected on Monday.

Informing the media, Athagarh Sub-Divisional Medical Officer (SDMO) Bijay Kumar Mishra said that swab sample of the IIC, who was unwell for last one week, was sent for COVID-19 test and the result received on Saturday confirmed that he had contracted the virus.

The district administration then declared the police station and its nearby area as containment zone on Sunday. Some areas in Sector-9, CDA, where he was staying, were also declared containment zones.

Six staff of the police station with corona symptoms also underwent the test on Sunday and five among them tested positive for the virus, he added.
