Workers’ Stir Hits Cargo Operations At Paradip Port
Paradip: Cargo operation and other shipping activities were severely affected at Paradip Port after hundreds of stevedore employees and labourers launched a cease-work agitation late on Thursday, protesting retrenchment and transfer.
The loaders and supervisors engaged in cargo handling and other activities staged a dharna in front of different stevedore firms on the port premises, seeking immediate fulfilment of their demands.
“The authorities have no right to take away the jobs of employees all of a sudden and without any prior notice. We have decided to continue our protest till the demands are met,” an agitating employee said.
