Berhampur: Community mitigation strategies to reduce or prevent COVID-19 transmission in Ganjam, especially in Hinjili, represented by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has yielded positive result as the number of Red Zone villages in Hinjili block has reduced to 10 from 56. Similarly, 14 out of 21 panchayats in the block became free from coronavirus, according to official sources.

By September 6 the number of active cases was only 6 with 412 have already been cured.

The number of testing from July 23 to September 6 has increased ten times. The number of testing was only 1,169 by July 23. But this number has increased to 12,934 by September 6 in Hinjili. The number has crossed 3 lakh in Ganjam, according to Prasanna Patra, BDO of Hinjili.

Strict implementation of social distancing norms and containment policy, door to door health check-up, increase in swab testing, 3-T strategies including Testing, Tracing and Treatment, the participation of COVID monitor and care committees and other strategies helped improve the situation, senior district officials have said.
