Engine Detachment: Odisha CM Requests Rly Minister To Address Lapses

Bhubaneswar: Expressing concern over the detachment of Ahmedabad-Puri Express, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on Sunday, took to the twitter and requested Railway Minister of India Piyush Goyal to take remedial action to address the lapses.

“Passengers’ safety is above everything and cannot be compromised,” the Chief Minister said.

Meanwhile, Sambalpur DRM Jayadev Gupta informed that Titlagarh station manager and a mechanical junior engineer have been found guilty during preliminary investigation and action will be initiated against both of them.

Earlier in the day, the railway board announced that it has decided to conduct a month-long drive over shunting at different railway stations across the country.

On Saturday night, a total of 22 bogies of the train had rolled down without any engine for 15 km from Titlagarh railway station up to Kesinga in Balangir district apparently due to non-application of skid-brake on the wheels of the coaches.

The detached portion was later halted by putting stones on the track to avoid accident.

However, all the passengers are safe.
