IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals Topple Kings XI Punjab In Super Over; Preity Zinta Unhappy Over Umpiring Error
Abu Dhabi: Delhi Capitals eventually got the better of Kings XI Punjab via a Super Over in the second match of the Indian Premier League 13 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium here on Sunday.
Both the teams were tied at 157 after the allotted 20 overs forcing a Super Over which was won by Delhi Capitals with four balls to spare. Mayank Agarwal’s hurricane 89 off just 60 balls went in vain for the Punjab outfit.
However, an umpiring mistake in the 19th over actually proved costly for Kings XI.
During the 19th over, Mayank Agarwal played Kagiso Rabada’s third ball towards the extra cover region for a quick couple. But on-field umpire Nitin Menon ruled that the first run was a short one.
However, replays showed that was a mistake on part of the umpire. Menon’s decision did not go down well with Punjab owner Preity Zinta, former cricketers and fans who vented their frustrations at the call.
I travelled enthusiastically during a pandemic, did 6 days of Quarantine & 5covid tests with a smile but that one Short Run hit me hard. What’s the point of technology if it cannot be used? It’s time @BCCI introduces new rules. This cannot happen every year. #DCvKXIP @lionsdenkxip https://t.co/uNMXFJYfpe
