Congress & Co Move For CJI Impeachment
New Delhi: In the wake of a Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra rejecting the PIL for an independent probe into Justice Loya’s death, Conthe talks of impeachment of CJI has once again come to the fore.
On Friday, opposition parties led by Congress met today and moved a motion for the impeachment of the CJI. The notice has been signed by 60 lawmakers.
As per information, Congress along with NCP, Left parties, Samajwadi Party (SP), and the Bahujan Samaj Party will meet and take a call on the issue.
The opposition parties are likely to meet the Rajya Sabha Chairman today.
For an impeachment motion to be cleared, it has to be supported by at least 50 MPs in the Rajya Sabha and 100 MPs in the Lok Sabha.
