Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Traffic DCP Saumya Mishra Seeks Cadre Change To Punjab
Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has recommended the DG and IG of Odisha Police to change the cadre of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Traffic DCP Saumya Mishra to Punjab on marriage grounds.
All India service rules allow married IAS and IPS officers to get a common cadre state, which should not be the home state of either of the spouses. While Saumya belongs to Uttar Pradesh, her husband Deepak Pareek hails from Rajasthan. The 2014-batch IPS officers had tied the knot on November 22, 2015. A Punjab cadre IPS officer, Pareek is currently posted as additional DCP-1 at Ludhiana.
According to a Times of India report, Saumya had requested for a change of cadre on November 24, 2015, “Now, it has been almost five years since our marriage on November 22, 2015. I request you to kindly consider my request for the cadre change,” Saumya wrote to DGP Abhay through the Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi a few days ago.
In a letter on October 21, Sarangi drew the attention of the DGP to her request. “Her representation along with marriage registration certificate is forwarded herewith a recommendation for favourable consideration,” said the CP.
The Punjab government has also given its consent to it, sources said.
