Baleshwar: A schoolteacher was taken into custody for allegedly molesting a Class V girl student in Chandipur area of Odisha’s Baleshwar district Saturday.
The accused reportedly admitted to the misconduct, following which Chandipur police arrested him and launched an investigation.
According to information, the teacher allegedly called the minor girl into a classroom during the games period and molested her. The girl later informed her family members about the incident.
The family reportedly raised the issue with school authorities several times, but no action was allegedly taken against the teacher. Frustrated over the lack of action, the girl’s parents and other villagers reached the school on the day of the incident.
They allegedly caught the teacher while he was molesting the girl and assaulted him before handing him over to Chandipur police.
Police subsequently arrested the accused and initiated an investigation into the matter.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of children in educational institutions.
