Berhampur: The Forum for Ganjam (FFG), an organisation spearheading movement for development of the district, has appealed to the people not to burst firecrackers as it would generate air pollution, which is detrimental to COVID-19 situation, during Diwali on November 14.
Convenor of the FFG Sudhir Rout said the general public must be aware about the detrimental effects of the firecrackers when the whole world is fighting to contain the spread of coronavirus.
FFG organised an awareness campaign against bursting of crackers and use of polythene. It also appealed to the people to wear face masks and maintain social distancing.
The forum took out a rally from Old Bus Stand to Bada Bazar in the city with participation of a large number of public, intelligentsia, youngsters and others on Thursday.
