‘Laxmmi Bomb’ To ‘Laxmii’: Title Of Akshay Kumar Starrer Modified Following Protests

New Delhi: Following protests by various Hindu groups, the makers of Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ have decided to change the movie’s title ahead of its release on November 9.

Confirming the news, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “New development: Laxmmi Bomb title changed. New title: Laxmii.”

The Rajput Karni Sena alleged that the movie’s title was an insult to Goddess Laxmi and demanded a change.

Earlier, right-wing organization Hindu Sena had written to Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar, calling for boycotting the movie across the country.

Other Hindu organizations like Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha alleged that ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ promotes love jihad and should be boycotted.

The film, starring Akshay and Kiara Advani, is slated to release on Disney+ Hotstar on November 9. The film is a remake of the Tamil movie ‘Kanchana’.
