New Delhi: There is good news for beneficiaries of Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana (ABVKY) – they no longer have to submit the claim on an affidavit form.

The Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) took the decision following reports of several beneficiaries facing problems in submitting the claim on affidavit form, the Ministry of Labour and Employment said in a release.

Those who have submitted their claims online, along with scanned copies of Aadhar card and bank details, will no longer be needed to file the claim through affidavit form, the Financial Express reported.

Those who have not submitted the claim online can submit the printout of the claim after signing the required documents, the ESIC said.

ESIC decided to enhance the amount of relief under the scheme in August from 25 per cent of the wages to 50 per cent of daily earnings. With a huge number of daily wagers being rendered unemployed due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown and the resultant slump in economy, the government also relaxed the eligibility requirements for beneficiaries for the period between March 24 and December 31, 2020.

The ABVKY, launched in 2018 for two years, provides a fraction of daily wages for a period of up to 90 days as a relief payment to those who have lost their jobs. The scheme was extended till the end of June 2021 because of the pandemic. All employees who are covered under Section 2(9) of the ESI Act can claim benefits under the scheme.
