Odisha Govt Launches Special Drive For Regular Vaccinations Of Children
Bhubaneswar: With regular vaccinations of children affected by lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic in Odisha, the Health department has launched a special campaign to speed up the health care facility.
According to department sources, the number of regular vaccinations has come down in 135 blocks for pandemic related restrictions. In order to cover the targeted children, the department has launched special vaccination drive, ‘Abhiyan’ ,which will continue till February, 2021, the sources said.
The vaccination of Hepatitis-B, BCG Vaccine, Penta and Rota, Polio, Measles and Rubela have already been started at many places in the state. Besides, importance has been given to the children who have not taken the vaccines under mission Indradhanush.
People can give the required vaccines to their children every Wednesday. Besides, two more working days will be dedicated for giving vaccines in the areas where less children have been covered.
The department had targeted to give vaccines to 90% of children in 2020-21. But, less than 85% children have been covered in 135 blocks.
Notably, 86% children were given regular vaccinations in 2019.
