Three Arrested With Counterfeit Notes Worth Rs 42,500
Boudh: Police on Friday busted a fake currency racket with the arrest of three persons.
As many as 45 counterfeit currency notes to the tune of Rs 42, 500 of Rs 500 denomination were seized from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Rajesh Kumar Sahu (prime accused) of Gudavelipadar village in Boudh district, Ranjit Naik of Manamunda village in Sambalpur district and Sarbeswar Mishra, a resident of Panisiali village of Subarnapur district. However, another member of the gang managed to escape from the spot during raid.
According to police sources, the trio had bought four goats from one Dayamani Lakra of Saradhapali village at a cost of Rs 40,000, a few days ago. Later, Lakra’s wife during a transaction at a grocery shop near her house found that the notes given by these persons were fake and alerted police.
Acting upon the complaint, a police team conducted raided the houses of the three and nabbed them.
