Rahul Gandhi Sets Tone For Elections, To Address ‘Jan Aakrosh’ Rally

New Delhi: Setting tone for the 2019 General Elections, Congress president Rahul Gandhi will be addressing a mega rally at the Ramlila Ground on Sunday. The ‘Jan Aakrosh’ rally will be held to highlight the failures of the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This is Rahul’s first rally in New Delhi after taking over as the Congress president last year.

“There is anger among all sections of society, the poor, the elderly, the youth, farmers, women. Hence, the name Jan Akrosh Rally,” AICC General Secretary Ashok Gehlot was quoted by media.

Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and senior leaders, including Manmohan Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad are expected to attend the rally.

The rally comes barely a fortnight ahead of the Karnataka Assembly polls, which will take place on May 12.

The Congress scion is likely to raise issues like corruption, bank scams, Rafael deal and issues related to farmers, women, national security and Dalit atrocities.

The rally will be crucial for the Congress to bounce back after the 2014 debacle. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi became the most followed Congress leader on Twitter, after he overtook party MP Shashi Tharoor. Rahul now has a 6.77 million followers, while Tharoor has 6.7 million followers.
