Oil Tanker Owners’ Stir Paralyses Fuel Transportation Across Odisha
Paradip: Fuel transportation remained paralysed across Odisha following a strike by owners of oil tankers for the last two days.
Owing to the indefinite strike, fuel transportation from the terminal of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited to oil depots and pumping stations across the state and outside has been severely affected.
“We make more than 200 trips of petrol and 250 of diesel from the BPCL terminal each day. But, it is regretful that the BPCL is paying just Rs 2.30 per kilometre, which is less than the other oil terminals in Paradip. While other terminals have already hiked the fares, BPCL authorities have failed to do so. The agitation will continue, till our legitimate demand is not meet,” a member of Oil tanker owners’ association said.
