Baripada: Praying for early recovery of popular Ollywood actor and comedian Papu Pom Pom, who is currently undergoing treatment at All Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, thousands of fans across Odisha have offered diyas in temples.
In Nuasahi village of Kaptipada block of Mayurbhanj district, the native place of Papu, people are seen praying in several temples and offering diyas.
In Baripada, students of the Mayurbhanj Chhau Nrutya Academy offered prayers for the early recovery of the actor. Artistes in the district are crest fallen following the news on the illness of their favourite actor.
Meanwhile, a team of doctors at the AIIMS, led by Prof Anup Saraya of the Gastrology department have begun the treatment of the Ollywood actor.
Papu was admitted to the SUM Hospital in Bhubaneswar on May 5 after he complained of acute pain in the lower abdomen. He was later diagnosed with acute pancreatitis.
Though his condition was stable for two days, he was admitted in the ICU on May 7 following acute chest pain.
The doctors later advised the family members to shift him to the AIIMS for better treatment.
Acting on the advice of the doctors, Papu was airlifted to New Delhi on May 8.
