Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday announced a cash award of Rs 10 lakh each for Balangir and Kandhamal police for the recent successful anti-Maoist operations in these districts.
Presiding over a review meeting on the Maoist problem in Odisha at the State Secretariat here, the chief minister said this is in addition to the cash award being given to the police engaged in anti-Maoist operations. “Apart from this, the police officers and the staff would be felicitated,” he announced.
The chief minister called upon the Left-wing extremists to lay down arms and join the mainstream.
Among others, chief secretary, development commissioner, Director General of Police, additional chief secretary, Home, Director General (Intelligence), IG (Intelligence), and Superintendents of Police of Balangir and Kandhamal were present.
