After Aamir Khan, Virus Catches Up With His ‘3 Idiots’ Co-Star Madhavan

Mumbai: Actor R Madhavan has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The actor took to social media to share a health update with his fans with a reference to the blockbuster film ‘3 Idiots’ in which he co-starred with Aamir Khan.

“Farhan HAS to follow Rancho and Virus has always been after us BUT this time he bloody caught up. BUT-ALL IS WELL and the Covid will be in the Well soon. Though this is one place we don’t want Raju in. Thank you for all the love. I am recuperating well (sic),” Madhavan twweted on Wednesday.

In 3 Idiots, Madhavan played Farhan Qureshi, while Aamir played the role of Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad aka Rancho. The actor also mentioned Sharman Joshi and said that he wouldn’t want Raju (the character played by Joshi in 3 Idiots) to contract the virus. In the film, they called Viru Sahastrabuddhe (Boman Irani), their college’s director, Virus and Madhavan joked that the virus finally managed to catch them after having chased them for so long.

Also on Wednesday, Aamir Khan’s spokesperson confirmed that the actor has tested positive for COVID-19, India Today reported.

“He is at home in self-quarantine, following all the protocols and he’s doing fine. All those who came in contact with him in the recent past should get themselves tested as a precautionary measure. Thank you for all your wishes and concern,” the spokesperson added.

On the work front, Madhavan’s last Bollywood outing was Tanu Weds Manu Returns in 2015. He made a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero. In recent years he has been more active in the Tamil and Telugu film industries.
