Yeddyurappa Resigns Minutes Before Floor Test
Bengaluru: After almost a week of high-pitched drama, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa resigned ahead of the floor test to give way to Congress-JD(S) to prove its majority in the state Assembly.
The two-day-old Karnataka Chief Minister announced his decision in the Assembly, minutes ahead of the floor test scheduled for 4 pm.
In an emotional speech, Yeddyurappa expressed his happiness for the people’s support and said he will continue working for them.
“For the last two years, I have travelled through Karnataka. PM Modi and party chief Amit Shah made me the CM candidate. I can’t forget the love and support I got from the people,” he said.
Meanwhile the two Congress MLAs Anand Singh and Pratap Gowda Patil, who were reportedly missing, were escorted by the police from the city-based hotel and arrived on time for the floor test.
